In acne scars or pimple scars, there is depression in the skin because after a pimple the collagen of the skin gets destroyed.
95% of patients with acne vulgaris have acne scars. Acne scars are associated with psychological pain, low self-esteem, and reduced quality of life.
Usually, to treat pimple or pimple scars lasers, chemical peel, subcision, fillers, fat grafting, scar revision are done, for the details of which you must read our previous blog.
If the skin layers are removed from top to bottom then it is called skin resurfacing or ablative rejuvenation. It is done by chemical method i.e. phenol peel or physical method i.e. dermabrasion using sandpaper or grinder or laser method. Out of all these three methods lasers are the only method in which precise depth can be controlled easily and it is the most effective method for collagen remodeling. Overall if in acne scar treatment you have to choose any one treatment method because of budget then you should choose laser treatment.
There are different types of skin resurfacing lasers.
Ablative lasers - Ablative lasers give a very good improvement in acne scar treatment but patients with brown or dark skin color are at risk of darkening i.e. pigmentation.
Non-Ablative lasers - Non-Ablative lasers like Diode, Nd-Yag, PDL have good safety profiles but they do not give good results like an ablative laser.
Fractional laser treatment - Fractional laser treatment has been developed to address the drawbacks of both of these, which have the advantages of ablative laser and at the same time have no side effects. Fractional laser treatment is usually known as fractional CO2 or pixel CO2 or ultrapulse. A lot of patients are not happy with fractional lasers. Do we have any other better laser technology for such patients? We will discuss it.
CO2 laser has always been considered the gold standard for skin resurfacing, however, the downtime or recovery time after CO2 laser treatment is 7-10 days which is quite high and there are also many complications. Compared to CO2 laser, Erbium laser has minimum downtime of 4-5 days and side effects are also very less.
The penetration depth of CO2 laser is more than erbium and residual thermal damage is also high. The water absorption rate of the erbium laser is 10 times better than the CO2 laser. The penetration depth of erbium laser is less than CO2 laser leading to less residual thermal damage and fewer side effects.
Dr. Vasant Gholave, Director of Arra Aesthetics, Pune, has listed the criteria of a good candidate for gynecomastia surgery here.
It is a new micro ablative method of photorejuvenation based on 2940 Erbium Yag laser with SMA module.
First, ablative lasers were invented for skin resurfacing which removes the upper surface of the skin. Its results are very good but the drawbacks are also more, for example, general anesthesia had to be given, and due to more depth ablation, the risk of burns, scars, and pigmentations was high. To reduce this risk, nonablative lasers were used, in which the risk was less but the result was not like ablative lasers. Combining these two technologies, fractional laser treatment was prepared. In this, the heat energy goes column deep and the skin between the two columns remains normal. In this, less heat energy is used, so the side effects are also less and the results are less than ablative laser but are acceptable. RecoSMA laser is better than these because RecoSMA has spatial modulated ablation ie SMA technology which distributes laser energy in a uniform way.
RecoSMA laser delivers uniform energy and fractional CO2 laser shows differences like depression and elevation in the treated area and untreated area. If we compare the fractional CO2 laser and the RecoSMA laser, the energy in the CO2 laser penetrates deep, while the energy in the Recosma laser is only up to the epidermis i.e. the upper layer of the skin.
Another advantage of the RecoSMA laser is that after the energy is absorbed on the upper surface, they produce acoustic waves. These waves collide with each other and cause mechanical damage at deeper layers. Because of this, the thermal damage of the Recosma is very less. They do mechanical ie nonthermal damage up to almost 6 millimeters depth. In RecoSMA, there is no extensive damage to the entire cells or muscles, only partial damage so that the regenerative process is fast and smooth.
This is its biggest advantage as it is painless due to lack of heat energy and the recovery time is very less i.e. 2 to 3 days. For Indian skin types, the risk of complications such as burn injury, scarring, or pigmentation due to excessive heat is negligible with RecoSMA laser.
Dr. Vasant Gholave, Director of Arra Aesthetics, Pune, discusses the cost of acne treatments in Pune and the factors that influence the cost here.
Immediately after the RecoSMA Laser procedure, you will feel a slight warmth in the skin which is quite normal because after the laser the blood supply to the treatment area increases almost ten times. It settles in 5-10 minutes. Do not water the treated area for 24 hours after laser. After 24 hours you have to use moisturizer. Within 2-3 days the upper skin will be removed. After this, you will need to use sunscreen.
Usually, 3-6 sessions are required for acne scars. There is a gap of 1 month in each session. The RecoSMA laser works on microablative and regenerative technology, so the results of the RecoSMA laser are visible from the third month onwards, maximum results come in 9 months and there is further improvement for 2 years.
In case of pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, uncontrolled diabetes, active infection, immunosuppression along with many other diseases and conditions, RecoSMA should not be used, which will be discussed with you during the consultation.
RecoSMA laser not only treats your acne scars but also enhances the tone, skin texture, and elasticity of your face due to regenerative techniques. This is the experience of many of our patients treated for scars. That is why it is considered the best laser for anti-aging treatment in the world. Traditional laser resurfacing which is done with ablative CO2/erbium laser, in which you needed to give general anesthesia, the dressing was given all over the face and whose side effects were quite high. In comparison, RecoSMA laser is absolutely safe, in which, forget general anesthesia, we do not even apply local anesthesia cream, because it is a painless procedure. In this, your facial recovery takes place within 2-3 days.
So let's see the best results of RecosmaSMA laser in acne scars:
Acne scars या pimple scar में skin में depression होते है क्योंकि pimple के बाद skin का collagen destroy हो जाता है.
“Some scars are worth remembering like battle scars" या फिर “ कुछ दाग अच्छे होते हैं| यह बातें सुनने में अच्छी जरूर लगती है पर क्या सच में हमें हर दाग, हर स्कार अच्छा लगता है!?
“Some scars are worth remembering like battle scars" Or "Some marks are good." It sounds good to hear these things, but do we really like every mark, every scar!?
